DataMgr Issue: List for one to many relations

Name: List for one to many relations

Type: Enhancement
Area: Database
Severity: High

Description: The list functions in dataMGR are great but there is a void in that it currently only has lists for one to many relationship. Let's say you have a product and categories. It seems the relational field in the active schema should also be able to return a list for that relationship. Certainly it would internally respond differently than the many to many relation. Perhaps reusing the same list type and putting in two attributes... remote-table="" and remote-field="" would designate the one to many form of generating a list.

Then question is should it be able to handle updates sent back to the list like the one to many. IMO the answer would be no in this case because the relationship is clearly different in use case. This wouldn't be a managed data feature. It would be very beneficial to have it as a queried data feature just the same.

Thanks for considerations in advance.

John,

I think that DataMgr already does what you want and I just haven't explained it well yet.

Here is a new explanation of lists in DataMgr:

Let me know whether or not that meets your needs.
